Fleet Manager

This is a Full-time position in Etobicoke, ON posted May 13, 2021.

We are looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee the fleet of over 750 specialized trucks and trailers. Located in Etobicoke, Starline Production Rentals Inc. is a leading equipment rental company to the film industry.The purpose of the Fleet Manager role is to effectively support the operations department with a variety of duties; such as, managing and coordinating operation and maintenance activities of fleet/automotive equipment department and storage and repair facilities of Starline, coordinate and oversee inspection of and evaluate automobiles and equipment and schedules needed repair or service work. You will continually work with your team to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction by ensuring equipment is properly maintained and repaired. You will work closely with the Head of Operations to continue to support the growth and success of your department.Core ResponsibilitiesExecute Fleet Manager Leadership Duties safely and with minimal supervision (50%)* Report to the Head of Operations* Lead team meetings, participating in leadership team meetings as required* Analyze and resolve customer service issues* Motivate, coach and train technicians to exceed time & quality standards to comply with standard repair and maintenance processes* Oversee scheduling and workload* Responsible to oversee department budgets – productivity and cost controls* Lead, plan, measure the continuous improvement of all equipment and maintenance* Ensure continuous growth of team members; including approval for certification programs and regular coaching* Promote a culture of safety and discipline through leadership, exemplary personal compliance, accountability and communication* Collaborate interdepartmentally to promote inter-department communication and team collaboration* Prepare and control department budget, directs recording of expenses, and analyzes purchase and repair costs to control expenditures* Negotiate with vendors to purchase equipment, materials, and supplies* Recommend procedures to improve efficiency* Ensure adherence to safety rules and regulations* Plan and direct safety campaigns* Arrange for insurance coverage on vehicles* Execute work orders tracking service records on all vehicles, responsible for vehicle complianceOther Fleet Manager Duties safely and with minimal supervision (40%)* Oversee Fleet Coordinator on all order processing and execution of service requirements by delegating and ensuring required tasks are coordinated within the operations team in a timely fashion with accuracy* Oversee and assist with maintenance and repair completion as well as equipment preparation and cleaning* Manage and assist with equipment booking and logistics, communicating to all team members required for equipment preparation and delivery* Obtain trucks, trailers and equipment replacement costs, and prepare specifications for purchase of new vehicles and equipment* Ensure adherence to equipment return and follow up* Managing and overseeing supply orders to lapse in supply availability* Assign trucks for useAssist and work with Human Resources with minimal supervision (10%)* Working with Human Resources; recruit, hires, and trains service team* Working with Human Resources; evaluate job performance, job descriptions and team objectives* Establish training objectives and needs of employeesGeneral Skills & Abilities* Demonstrated ability and commitment to employee morale/customer satisfaction* Excellent customer service skills* Strong motivational and leadership skills* Self-starter with strong on the spot problem solving skills* Demonstrable ability to work independently* Solid interpersonal skills with a successful track record of working within a team environment* Well organized with a proven ability to navigate several deadlines and projects simultaneously* Detail oriented and ability to work with accuracy* Developed professional written and verbal communication skillsRequirements include:* Experience in technical operations* 5 years’ service and maintenance experience, min. 3 years’ supervisory experience* Experience with fleet maintenance and management* Experience in logistics coordination and administrative functions* Experience with basic hand and power tools* Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment* Efficient using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Microsoft Exchange* Knowledge of maintenance accounting and P&L* Valid Ontario driver’s license and copy of abstractWhat’s in it for you?* Full time employment in a stable continuous work industry* Competitive wages, based on experience* Extended health benefits* Opportunity for growth within a growing company* A supportive team of experienced professionals to assist you in your career developmentHow to ApplyInclude your resume, basic cover letter and contact information.Should you require any form of accommodation during the application process, please let us know.
