DIRECTOR OF CARE – Extendicare Vista Park Lodge

This is a Contract position in Etobicoke, ON posted July 15, 2021.

Candidates are invited to apply for the above position to work at Vista Park Lodge, a 100-bed long-term care facility, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Reporting to the Administrator, the Director of Care is responsible for managing all aspects of nursing care within the home to ensure quality resident care through the effective, efficient delivery of established standards within legislative and budgetary requirements and lastly, by living our philosophy of “Helping People Live Better”.

QUALIFICATIONS University prepared RN (Bachelor of Nursing preferred) Current license with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Previous experience in a Leadership role within long term care.

Understanding of person-centered approaches for providing care TECHINCAL COMPETENCIES Working knowledge of: Accreditation Process, Manitoba Health Standards, human resources, and labor relations management, aware of safe work practices, quality assurance and quality improvement principles, ability to utilize various software applications for document creation and reports.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Supports the provision of resident care and services through active mentoring, collaboration and establishing sustainable processes General understanding of applicable legislation, collective agreements, and employment standards Active review of monitored hours and supplies budgets Improving the quality of care by utilizing the various quality improvement tools and philosophies Support on-going relationships with Manitoba Health, WRHA and other community groups Active supervision to ensure safe work practices are followed As a member of the leadership team, to collaborate with other teams to enhance/meet the organization’s vision Above average communicator who has a strong understanding of emotional intelligence and can facilitate change.

Assumes responsibility for the facility in the absence of the Administrator.

EXPERIENCE Minimum 5 years working in long term-care.

Minimum 5 years in a leadership/supervisory role in long term care.
