Journeyman/Woman B Pressure Welder Supervisor

Iconix Waterworks is seeking an experienced Journeyman/Woman B Pressure Welder Supervisor to join our team in Langley , BC who is responsible to oversee the fabrication of custom piping systems to TSBC standards.

This position reports to the Quality Control and Production Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities include Fit and Weld pipe and fittings while maintaining high level standards, following the QC Manual, and completing in a timely manner according to what the job scope has allotted.

To be accountable for making sure all employees are following safe work practises in accordance to the levels set out by the company.

Above average interpersonal skills working in a strong team environment.

Able to communicate well with all team members including fabricators, assemblers and project managers.

To mentor junior fabricators and welders.

Read and interpret blueprints/drawings for welding process specifications.

Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene equipment.

Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment and plasma cutting.

Repair metal products by welding on extra layers.

Ensure that safe work practices are maintained.

Assist in development of estimates and time allotted.

Conduct Inspections, repairs, modifications and retrofits.

Monitor standard parts usage and report to the Production Manager on any material issues.

Provide daily updates to the Production Manager on job progression and tracking project budgets.

Assist in training, directing & supervision of employees and apprentices, inspecting and certifying their work.

Safe work practices while operating the horizontal and vertical band saws, proficient with various Victaulic grooving machines, confidence operating large shear and iron worker.

Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications Citation in Welding Level ‘B’ with Red Seal Certification required.

Rigging/overhead crane certification preferred but will train/certify.

Minimum 5 to 10 years in steel fabrication industry, particularly pipe fitting.

Class A ticket from TSBC (and WPQR) preferred with the ability to produce ”X-ray” quality welds on demand.

Valid welding certification with CWB 47.1 and 47.2, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW Possess a valid driver’s license.

Ability to work independently, but yet supervise quality, in a busy environment.

Ability to kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, and reach above and below waist.

Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Must have all safety equipment such as steel toed boots, hard hat, helmet, etc.

Forklift certification required Minimum qualifications include passing ICONIX’s background checks and ability to drive (must be able to provide current driver’s abstract which shows you are in good standing).
