Production Assistant (Fabric and Sewing)

We’re looking for a new Production Assistant with a willingness to learn, and we hope that search ends now, with you.Production Assistant (Fabric and Sewing):Your days will be full of variety since our clients have specific needs, and the work will always keep you moving. Some regular tasks include cleaning and repairing screens and materials, and assessing fabrics as they come back from film/TV sets (which means we get them back in a variety of interesting or used conditions). You’ll also assist in handling custom manufacturing requests, like a tailored green screen suit. We don’t expect you’ll start with a complete knowledge of this; everyone here has learned on the job. Any experience with fabrics will be your head start on what you’ll learn here.You’ll be served well by your knowledge in:* How a fabrics direction influences the sewing and cutting* Pattern drafting and how different fabrics and threads interact* Machine sewing, particularly with industrial sewing machines* Cleaning various materials and fabrics and maintaining a tidy facilityYou’re a great fit for this position because you are:* Eager to learn – you have an open mind, you own your mistakes, and you’re motivated.* People-Oriented – you love meeting and interacting with all personality types.* Reliable – you’re punctual, and you follow through on your commitments.* Flexible – you like the challenge of meeting shifting demands, and don’t get bent out of shape easily.* Detail-oriented – you’re meticulous, careful and organized.Working with Materialistic:This is a full-time permanent position, offering $16-$20 per hour, commensurate with experience, plus vacation and overtime. You’ll work Monday to Friday in our “shabby-chic,” sunlit warehouse in Etobicoke, from 9:00-5:00pm, with flexibility as needed.We’re a small company doing elite work. You’ll work closely with the owner, who has over 20 years in the entertainment and fashion industries. This is your chance to become an expert in fabrics and their role in film productions.
