To ensure that the assigned equipment is operated safely, efficiently and in the standardized manner prescribed by Deco Automotive. To ensure our production team members perform work in accordance with plant rules and procedures.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
• Grade 12 education, or equivalent, or a significant amount of job-related work experience.
• Previous production operator work experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
• Operational knowledge with: Hydroforming Press, CNC Benders, Robots, and the setup and changeover of Hydroform dies.
• General knowledge of the Ontario Health and Safety Act.
• Basic proficiency using a computer and Microsoft Office software.
• Physically able to perform the essential duties of the job.
• Instruct, coach, and lead department personnel in: Deco Health and Safety rules, Deco Plant Policies and Procedures, Deco 5S and TPM standards, Standard Work Instructions, Deco Quality Standards, Production Quality Control Cards, and Quality Inspection.
• Continuous supervision of shop floor work centers during the scheduled shift.
• Responsible for the accurate reporting of work center downtime events.
• Responsible for the accurate reporting of scrap.
• Responsible to follow the Deco escalation process for downtime or quality related events.
• Identify/escalate risks to quality when equipment recovery or restart is present.
• Identify/escalate occurrences that require department product quality containment.
• Lead T1 (pre-shift) team member meetings following the prescribed meeting agenda/structure.
• Ensure equipment pre-start safety inspections are completed by team members and appropriate actions are taken when a non-conformance is found.
• Ensure all quality checks are being completed at the required interval based on the control cards.
• Complete 5S and layered process audits as required.
• Participate, promote, and contribute to Deco’s Continuous Improvement (CI) culture.
• Follow the directions prescribed by the Shift Supervisor.
• Ensure set ups are completed efficiently to production schedules.
• Participate in work email communications, general administration and record keeping.
• Always behave in a professional manner.
• Communicate shift details with following shift Team Leaders and Supervisors.
• Demonstrate a self-motivated and a positive attitude and be able to without constant supervision.
• Generate work orders as required.
• Follow and work within the guidelines of the Deco Employee Handbook.
• IATF16949 awareness and adherence.
• ISO14001 awareness and adherence.
• Attend Certification training for: First Aid Attendant/CPR, Overhead Crane, Forklift, Arial Boom Lift.
• Other duties as may be required.
SAFETY PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Follow the instructions set forth in the Magna Supervisor Competency Certification Training.
• Operational knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulation 851.
• Accepts the responsibility of authority over a worker and follows the prescribed measures in Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act.
