– Critical Care Program: Georgetown Family Practice (Georgetown Hospital) Status: Permanent Part-time (must provide availability up to 0.5 FTE) Hours: Monday to Friday, p rimarily days.

Will require flexibility to meet staff needs, e.g.

may need to work select evening, night or weekend hours for purposes of orientation and education.

This is what you’ll be doing: The Professional Practice Clinician (PPC) undertakes clinical teaching and staff development responsibilities for the critical care areas within Georgetown Family Practice as well as within the organization.

The role specifically focuses on the professional practice and clinical development of staff and includes, but is not limited to the following: This position will be responsible for critical care education across the Georgetown Family Practice Program and may include areas such as the ICU, PACU & Emergency Department.

Maintains a current knowledge base regarding evidence based and best practice for the critical care patient population, draws upon contemporary evidence and/or research-based practice methods and standards; and participates in quality improvement activities.

Accountable to Director of Professional Practice and Program Director Collaborates with the Program Director, Director of Professional Practice, Patient Care Managers, Chief Nursing Executive, and fellow PPCs, to plan, implement and evaluate activities related to staff and patient education.

Develops, reviews and revises policies and procedures related to professional practice and clinical care, and provides supporting education and evaluation.

Develops and monitors quality indicators within the program and actively participates in quality improvement activities.

As a member of the Office of Professional Practice, the PPC collaborates with other PPCs to plan and organize the Nursing Orientation Program, coordinate and assist with program quality management (audits), conduct follow-up activities, and plan and implements educational initiatives at program and corporate levels.

Participate in the GFP on-call coverage.

As a member of the Management Team, the PPC participates in organization-wide management activities.

Participates in regional initiatives that have a direct relationship to the program.

Facilitates and promotes staff to attain/retain recognized professional credentials as it relates to their positions in the Program.

Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required BScN or BN required Masters Degree in Nursing, Education or Health Administration preferred.

Commitment to complete a Masters Degree within a specified timeline will be a requirement for the successful applicant.

CNA Specialty Certification in Critical Care preferred Current ACLS certification required; ACLS instructor status an asset Coronary Care 1 and 2 required.
